Just launched: UK Commission for Employment and Skills
I’ve been working on the launch of the 2010 Review website for a couple of months now and am very excited to see it go live.
It’s a WordPress website with a twist: UK Commission for Employment and Skills, the client, wanted forum functionality on the site so that people could engage in discussions in a more structured manner than traditional blog comments permitted. After a bit of research into the best solution I hit on Buddypress, the plugin which turns WordPress into a private social network. One of the many social modules available within Buddypress is forums, so I used that.
Actually integrating Buddypress into your theme can be done using another plugin, but instead I opted to code the theme as a child theme of Buddymatic which is a port of the excellent Thematic theme framework.
In addition to the forums, the site has some additional custom php coding, for example we’re created a special ‘library’ page which features thumbnails of all posts with a specific tag which is updated on the fly.
Brandy puts Climpsons Coffee online
E-commerce website for a local cafe and coffee roastery based in Broadway Market. The website was designed & built on the popular WordPress publishing platform, providing the client with an easy to use interface for updating their own store.
Whereas the site currently only features about 10 products, there is scope for unlimited products should the client chose to expand their range. In addition to the design & build, I provided SEO consultancy to help the client choose their keywords, and then optimised the site for a range of terms.
The site ranks highly in search engines for all the chosen keywords, and is already generating high levels of organic search traffic. This resulted in the first sale of coffee within days of launch and a very happy client.
Food Power website launched
I’m a great believer in clever eating, what you put in has a huge effect on what you get out, so I was really excited to be invited to design the website for Nutritionist Charlotte Parton.
The site, which can be found at www.food-power.co.uk (click the image on the left to visit) is based on a really clean & simple design.
Built on the WordPress content management system, the site also features a blog, so that Charlotte can keep the world posted on her latest news. She aims to use the website as a way of drumming up business for her fledgeling consultancy. If you’re in the London area and need a nutritionist, she’s the woman to see!
Labour of Love Gites website launched
I launched this site a couple of weeks ago under my ‘Gite Guru’ business, which focuses on helping people in France with rental properties.
With unlimited pages, this is a particularly good example of the type of WordPress website I build for people as it features:
- Search engine friendly build & custom search engine optimisation
- Image Galleries on several pages
- Contact Form
- Multilingual Capabilities
- Google Maps
Litigation Consultancy Website Launched
I first worked with Ed Green on the launch of his property rental website, and was then invited to help him launch his new business, a litigation consultancy website. The site is pretty straight forward, consisting of:
- 5 pages
- A contact form
- A bespoke header image
The site is built on WordPress so as Ed’s business grows, he’s able to grow and improve the website himself without having to come to (or pay) me. In addition to designing and building the site, I carried out search engine optimisation to ensure the site ranks highly for the important search terms.
Brittany Gite Holiday Rental Website
I launched this site under my ‘Gite Guru’ banner recently for a client with rental properties in Brittany in northern France.
The site is based on popular WordPress content management solution as the ability to update her own site was important for the client. Features include:
- Image Galleries
- Lightbox effect
- Availability Calendars
- Google Maps
- Contact Form
- Custom Search Engine Optimisation
- Automatic translation tool
Holiday Rental website launches on WordPress
The Pigeonnier at La Taupe is a beautiful holiday rental property in France and the owners have meticulously restored the beautiful property. To drive rentals at the property, they asked me to produce them a website which carefully communicated the luxury nature of the brand.
The website is built on the WordPress platform, and features an image gallery with full screen imagery, a blog, an interactive guestbook and a contact form.
In addition to the build, I performed the search engine optimisation on the site which has quickly resulted in organic traffic to the site.
The client is very happy with the website, has had excellent feedback from clients and has since briefed me on a second project.

Showcase
Below are a few of the websites I’ve designed recently. They’re all built on WordPress, and in addition to doing the design & build, I also host & maintain the majority of them, as well as carrying out the SEO.
